New Math and Email Features!

We found that after adding the last batch of LaTex support, no one seemed to use it. So now we have made nice looking math equations even easier to add. Just surround any type of mathematical equations with $ signs, and presto! You have instant readability.

Also we have added email support. Now you can subscribe to questions and you will be updated daily with any new answers that are posted.

Tutorii now does LaTex and Embedded Video!

Thanks to those at ScienceStack Tutorii now has the ability to show math equations using LaTex.

LaTex is markup language used by countless mathematicians and scientists to display their various papers they produce properly, without having to worry about the formatting. Though LaTex has countless uses, we here at Tutorii will be mostly using it for its formula editor and display.

To use the editor is easy, simply type your equation in LeTex format into the LaTex box found here, and then copy the code it produces into your question. Now questions that have to do with math or physics are easier then ever.

If you don’t already know LaTex formating you can learn about it here, or use a formula creation tool like this one.

Also Tutorii now can do embedded videos from sites like YouTube, MetaCafe, and Vimeo. All one needs to do is surround the video id (RkSow7FtWmA in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkSow7FtWmA) with one the video tags ([youtube][/youtube]). Read more about it at the bottom of our Editing Help Page.

Off to a Good Start

Well it has been one week since the site has launched and to make it even better, this morning we found that Tutorii has been finally indexed by Google! We’re hopping this will allow Tutorii to be even more accessible by people all of the world.

To help celibate servieing this long, we thought we could share some stats on the site so far. In one week we have had:

765 – Separate Visits
3,800 – Page Views
300 - Unique Visitors
4:17 – Average Time on site
5 - Average Pages Per Visit

These stats are pretty awesome seeing we have only been up and running for 7 days now, but they also point out a pretty big problem. Though we have had 300 unique visitors we only have 30 registered users. And for that matter only 9 questions have been asked, though we have 28 answers for those. That means for every 10 visitors, only 1 registers and for every 20 visits to the site, only 1 adds any more content.

Over the coming weeks we will try to make it easier for users to ask questions, and hopefully add incentive for other users to answer those in turn. We will also continue to promote Tutorii, in an effort to attract new users.

Tutorii is Live!

Well here at Tutorii we are all very excited, thats because on Saturday October 11th (or better know as around 2am last night) tutorii.com went live for the first time!

We hope that the site will be able to pick up momentum so that students around the world have a place to work with and teach one another. Its going to be an exciting couple of months as Tutorii gains an aduiance for the first time and we will make sure to update as often as possible to let people know the newest news with Tutorii.

If you just want the cliffnotes version you can always follow us on Twitter. There we will be post short updates, like the creation of this blog, as well as every couple of hours a random question from the site will be posted.
